What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go.  Services last about an hour and include singing hymns, prayer, offering, a young church message, bible readings, notices and a message for the adults.

Communion is included in the service on every 2nd Sunday

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served downstairs after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the kids at the Church for:

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their programme. You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

Do I need to bring money?

No. As a Baptist church, we recognise that the members are responsible for financing the church's work. At some point in the service, a collection bag will be passed around and anyone is free to contribute if they wish - but if they don't want to, that's fine. By the way, don't be surprised if some people don't put anything into the bag - many members make their contribution through their bank by direct debit.

The money collected is used to pay for the work that the church carries out, its pastor, the running costs, and so on. But it's not all about us - each year we give away at least 10% of the money collected to fund other Christian mission work - locally, nationally and internationally.

You may also notice our young people collect loose change at the front of the church whilst the collection bag is going round.  This money is used to support two young peoples charities:

CICS - Christians in Calderdale Schools
PEPE - People Empowered Preserved Earth
