I’m Daryll: the one in the hat, glasses and ever whitening beard. Even before I came to faith in my mid 20’s I already had an innate sense of God’s presence in my life, something that I believe many others also experience. We may not always be able to tangibly explain it but we know that God is with us. Over the years I have worked for various churches, schools and community organisations on both Christian and secular projects and most of these have involved creative arts. I believe that creativity is a great gift from God and we should use our gifts widely and often. In doing so we help to remind people that God is always in their lives.

I became a Christian in 1980 and began training for ministry in 1992 at Northern Baptist College while being a student minister at Cutgate Baptist Church Rochdale. I came to Calderdale in 1996 as minister of West Vale Baptist Church followed by service at Pellon Baptist Church in Halifax and Hope Baptist Church in Hebden Bridge. On retiring from ministry in 2015 I became a member of Upper Edge Baptist Church where I served as moderator for 3 years and now serve as a deacon.   I have been attending this church for a long number of years now and producing the newsletter for quite a few years now since I retired.  Also have been church Treasurer for about 6 years now and am a deacon!
I enjoy gardening, cycling, skiing, reading, keeping fit, IT – spreadsheets and desk top publishing in particular.  I especially enjoy cycling holidays abroad with my husband where we visit some wonderful countries, often seeing places off the usual tourist route.  I attend the Line Dancing class at church on a Friday morning which is a great social time as well.

  “Hi! My name is Lorraine.
I have attended Upper Edge Baptist church since I was a little girl (many years ago).
I was baptised here, and I got married here.
One of my roles at Upper Edge is to work with Young Church.
I am also involved with our monthly “Community Lunch” held at church and the monthly “Ladies Who Lunch” group who dine out at various locations.

My family and I have attended Upper Edge for many years and I was baptised here over 30 years ago.
Being an active church member I have helped  in many roles; currently as a Deacon. As a keen guitarist I regularly play in our Sunday service. Outside of church I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, travelling abroad, listening to music and going to gigs
